Description
Organic Chemistry is the study of the structure and reactivity of carbon and its compounds. Compounds are grouped according to structure, using a functional group approach. Reactions are organized according to similarities in mechanism, with an emphasis on electron flow. This includes the chemistry of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, halogenated hydrocarbons, free-radicals and alcohols. Infrared, NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry are also covered.
