Description
This course is offered through CCCU Best Semester as a Study Abroad course. Permission through the Study Abroad office is required prior to enrolling in this course. The course description provided by CCCU is as follows:In this introductory course students will develop novice-level communication skills and competency in vocabulary, grammar and cultural concepts through speaking, reading, writing and listening to Kiswahili. As Kiswahili is a language expressed primarily through oral communication, emphasis will be placed on listening and speaking. The course will run for the first six weeks of the semester in order to maximize students' opportunity to engage crossculturally utilizing their new language skills. It will be immediately followed by the intermediate-level Kiswahili II course. Student learning will be evaluated through the use of ongoing oral assessment, unit quizzes, and final oral and written examinations.
