This course applies the Trivium arts of dialectic and rhetoric to examine the Quadrivium, the classical study of mathematics, and integrates fundamental concepts of abstract algebra into the broader map of mathematics through developing skills of differentiation between groups, rings, and fields, solving problems with concrete groups, and identifying algebraic features of mathematical systems.Prerequisite: MATH 5063
