Description

This course is a study of the chemical concepts of carcinogenesis. In addition, this course examines the causes of cancer, the chemistry of approved anti-cancer drugs, mechanisms of interaction with the body, side effects, classifications of drugs, and environmental carcinogens. The roles of important biomolecules, such as lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids, in carcinogenesis will be discussed as well as the repair mechanisms employed at a molecular level to combat nucleic acid damage and unregulated cell growth.
